Adrian Glenn Ligon, 84, born July 8, 1935, was a lifelong resident of Paducah, Ky. and passed away peacefully on December 26, 2019. Mr. Ligon was the son of Julia and Rankin Ligon and a retired pharmacist. He graduated valedictorian from Tilghman High School in 1953 and attended Paducah Community College. He then graduated from the University of Kentucky, College of Pharmacy. Mr. Ligon received many academic awards during his career including the Gold Medal Award established by Lehn and Fink Products Corporation and the ACORN Award for the highest academic average. He was a member of the Rho Chi Honorary Pharmaceutical Society, American Pharmaceutical Association and Kappa Phi Pharmaceutical fraternity. Mr. Ligon was a member of the Kentucky National Guard and served on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His pharmacy career included management of several retail pharmacies in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois. Among them, Cardinal Point Rexall, Albrittion’s Pharmacy, Sav-Rite in Murray, Ky and Hook’s Drug Store in Princeton, Il.
He was predeceased by his parents, Julia and Rankin Ligon (formally Captain of the Paducah Police Department); his aunt, Mae Moore (Floyd); uncle, Robert Ligon (Margie) of Yuma, Az; his aunt, Richond Cumbee, of Mayfield; and his grandparents Roy and Lena Houser Lee, Edward Forrest Ligon and Aldreth Ligon Gordon.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wile (Steve), of Tempe, Az; his son, David A. Ligon, of Chandler, Az; his grandchildren, Justin Martens (Caitlyn) of Mesa, Az; Meghann Sherman of Gilbert, Az; Brandon Ligon of Chandler, Az; and great-grandson Maddox Martens of Mesa, Az.
Graveside services were held Monday, December 30, 2019 at Maplelawn Park Cemetery for family. He was a member of the Margaret Hank Memorial Cumberland Presbyterian Church and in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be sent to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1526 Park Ave., Paducah, Ky 42001.
