Amos Jenkins Jr.
Amos Jenkins Jr., 78, of Paducah died at 10 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Jenkins was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a trustee and chairman of the Benevolence Committee and played the bass guitar for the choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Jenkins was employed with the VMV Paducahbilt in Paducah. He also was employed as truck driver and as a commercial pilot.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theola Jenkins; one sister; and one nephew. His parents were Amos Jenkins Sr. and Ella Mae Spikes Jenkins.
He is survived by one son, James Horton of Rockford, Ill.; one daughter, Ella Horton of Rockford; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Barbara Burrage and Ronnie Coffie officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the church.
Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
