Betty Crittendon, age 85, of Paducah died at 12:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Medco Center of Paducah.
Mrs. Crittendon formerly owned and operated the Friendly Trading Post in downtown Paducah and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, James William Crittendon and wife, Joan; nine grandchildren, Cassie Ann Brimm Jones and husband, Robert, Sharolette Crittendon Blake, Dana Crittendon, James William Crittendon III, and wife Sherry, Jerry Crittendon, Marty Crittendon, Leann Crittendon, Ttre' Crittendon, and Grant Crittendon; eight great-grandchildren, Donnie Blake, Brock Blake, Mallory Blake, James William Crittendon IV, Jonah Winter Crittendon, Jake Ryan Crittendon, Serenity Dakota Crittendon, and Summer Leann Crittendon.
She was preceded by her husband, J.W. "Red" Crittendon; one son, Charles Thomas Crittendon; one daughter, Patricia Ann Crittendon; three brothers, Earl Thompson, Arthur Thompson and Richard Thompson; three sisters, Myrtle Thompson, Margaret Thompson and Rosie Goodier Dye; one grandson, Buster Crittendon. Her parents were Sam Thompson and Elizabeth Barker Thompson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crittendon will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Lindsey Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Council and Rev. Topper Council will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
