Blanche Coleman Crawford, 96, of Paducah passed away at 7:55 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Western Baptist Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Paducah, Blanche was born on August 16, 1912, to the late Ivey B. and Lena Carney Coleman. She led a full, active life, touching many throughout her lifetime journey. She was happiest when with her family and especially enjoyed her church friends.Among her many talents were crocheting and hand work, reading, and preparing special dishes and treats. She was a self-taught musician and used her musical abilities especially during her early adult years at West End Baptist Church. At age 16, she was employed with Claussner Hosiery Company, where she worked for 25 years. Later, she worked in sales at Emerson Furniture Company and Home Furnishings.
She was married for 52 years to her first husband, the late J. Hugh Wyatt, father of their three children: daughter Carol Sloan of Paducah; son Arlen Wyatt and wife Myra of Paducah; and the late Melva Jan Mealer. She is survived by three grandchildren, Cindy Sloan Wyatt of Houston, Texas, Rick Sloan of St. Louis, Mo., and Mark Calhoun and wife Karla of Paducah; one great-grandson, Richie Sloan of St. Louis, Mo.; one great-granddaughter, Maddie Sloan of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her second husband, Don Harmon, and her third husband, Ishmael Crawford; two sisters, Emma Riley and Verna Grimm; and two brothers, Waymon Coleman and infant Terry Coleman.
She will be missed by so many who were privileged to know and love her, and will always remain close in heart.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Todd Brady officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
