Calude Young

July 16, 1920 — January 4, 2011

Claude Harrison Young, 90, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Paducah, died Jan. 4 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, W.Va.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Ninth Street Church of Christ with Mark Rowe and Graham McGill officiating. Entombment will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

He was a member of Ninth Street Church of Christ. He was a minister for churches in Mayfield, Martin, Tenn., Carbondale, Ill., and Mounds, Ill. He owned his own construction company and taught masonry for the Federal Job Corps in Morganfield.

He is survived by his daughter, Palestine Howie of Terrell, Texas; two grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Young Baker of Earlington, Varmilla Patrick of Memphis, Tenn., and Mattie Mickens of Henderson, Tenn.; brother, Member C. Hart of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Nell Clifford; and a daughter, Gladys Young Pettigrew. His parents were Virch Harrison and Adlena Frye Young.

Rawls Funeral Home in Union City, Tenn. is handling arrangements.
