Carl David "Dave" Hayden, age 57, of Paducah, surrounded by friends, died peacefully at his home Friday at 12:45 a.m.
Dave enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and bird watching. Children adored him. He was a 1969 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, where he set records for their track team; he served in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam; was a graduate of Paducah Community College; member of the New Covenant Church; was an avid photographer who was seen snapping photos at local community events; and served as a missionary to the Jesus House of Prayer in Israel. Earlier this spring, a "Dave Art Celebration" showcased a collection of his creations and life's work.
He is survived by his brother, Paul Hayden and wife, JoAnn, of Paducah, and his stepmother, Mary Hayden. Preceding him in death were his parents, Claude G. and Lillie D. Sikes Hayden; two brothers, Bobby and Donnie Hayden; and one sister, Martha Sue Burge.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Maplelawn Park Cemetery, followed by a memorial service starting at 11:30 a.m. with military rites to follow.
