Charles Broach

Charles C. Broach, 92, of Reidland died at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his home.

He was born March 28, 1918, in Mayfield, Kentucky, one of six children of the late James A. and Emily Legalia Van Cleave Broach.

Mr. Broach was a member of Reidland United Methodist Church and retired from Ashland Oil Company. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a prisoner of war for 26 months. He was a longtime volunteer for Martha's Vineyard.

He is survived by a daughter, Judith Ann Broach Burch and husband Jerry of Collierville, Tennessee; one son, John A. Broach and wife Louise of Duncan, South Carolina; two grandchildren, Emily Lillian Burch of Auburn, Alabama, Wade Frank Burch and wife Holly of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and one great-grandson, Alex Burch.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Margie Fuller Broach; two sisters, Louise Broach Westbrook and Ellen Broach King; a brother, James Carlos Broach; and two infant brothers.

Funeral services for Mr. Broach will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at Reidland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Emily Burch officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah and after noon on Monday at the church.
