Charles E. 'Housecat' Burton

Service for Charles E. "Housecat" Burton, 73 of Paducah will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Lindsey Funeral Home with Chaplin Todd Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at the Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Mr. Burton passed away Wednesday, August 15, at 9:23 p.m. at his home after a long illness. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the 1st Battalion of the 123rd National Guard Armor Regiment. He was a charter member and past president of the River City Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Honor Guard Paducah Post 1191. Mr. Burton was retired from the United States Army and Bankers Life Insurance Company where he received numerous awards and honors. He was also honored as a Duke of Paducah.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Margie Johnson Burton; five children, Mike Burton (Cheryl) of Panama City, Fla., Debra Hall (John), Ricky Burton (Nancy), Gary Burton (Leesa), Jim Burton (Robin) all of Paducah. Siblings include Wilma Mathis, Brenda Thorn, Roger Reed and Larry Reed of Paducah and Richard Burton of Wisconsin. Mr. Burton also leaves 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Deatrice Gamble Burton Reed and Alvin Burton; three sisters, Betty Watson, Shirley Moss, Patricia McNeil; and one brother, James Burton.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may go to Lourdes Hospice.
