Della "Liz" Flournoy, 85, of Paducah died Thursday evening, October 5, 2017, at her home with her family by her side.
She retired after 32 years of working for the PUrchase District Health Department in HR and accounting.
LIz loved the outdoors, gardening and raising flowers, and admiring the butterflies she could see.
She most importantly loved her family an spending time with them, which sometimes included bargain hunting at some of her favorite stores. Liz was also of the Baptist faith.
Liz is survived by he rhusband of 58 years, William Flournoy Sr., four children, Betty (Brian) Flournoy Sayner, Debbie Gibbs Lawson, William (Jennifer) Flournoy Jr. and John (Debbie) Gibbs, all of Paducah; stepdaughter Ann Flournoy of Mayfield; one stepsister, Patsy Fondaw; eight grandchildren, Amanda Flournoy, Evan Sayner, Kevin (Jill) Herndon, Cory Herndon Gerren Lawson, Hank Flournoy , Chasity Gibbs and WEsley Gibbs; eight great-grandchildren; and four nieces.
She was preceded in death by two siblings, June Churchwell and Pace Crider. Her parents were Carl and Irene LaRue Churchwell.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2017, at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah with Brother Mike Williams officiating, Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association of America.
