For everything, there is a season. – Ecclesiastes 3: 1...
Charming, witty, funny, courteous, well-mannered and athletic.....All adjectives to describe DeShawn Gregory Cook who was born in Paducah, Kentucky on April 27, 2003. DeShawn Gregory Cook, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021 in Atlanta, GA. We celebrate the 18 years that the Lord allowed us to know, nurture, grow and laugh with him.
DeShawn was baptized at the First United Pentecostal Church in Union City, Tennessee. At First United Pentecostal, DeShawn loved participating in the Youth Ministry and enjoyed many outdoor activities, to include fishing and “playing in the creek”. DeShawn was an active member of Paducah’s Ware Memorial Church of God in Christ where you could find him ushering, serving as an Armor Bearer in training, singing in the choir and leading one of his favorite songs, “What a Mighty God We Serve!”
He loved the Boys and Girls Club of Paducah and participating in football and basketball. Ask any of his coaches and they will tell you he was good at them too! He was raised in a town that loved Tilghman and UK blue, yet he was an avid Duke fan. How this happened, we do not know.
Shawn attended Paducah Tilghman High School
In life, DeShawn was a giver and a joy to be around. He was willing to assist and help without much asking and expecting little or nothing in return. In death, too, DeShawn is a giver. Because he lived, he is able to help sustain the life of 5 other people who face health challenges.
Deshawn will be remembered as a wonderful person, son, brother and uncle who will be greatly missed.
DeShawn leaves friends, a community and his family who will cherish his memory to include: Melissa Cook (Mother), Cassandra McEwen (Mother/Grandmother), Dorenda Cook (Mother/Sister), Dwight Cook (Brother), Darlena Cook (Sister), Destiny Dumas (Sister), Rolando Jones (Brother), Donald and Terrill Cook (Uncles), Krystle and Daisy Cook (Aunts), Maternal Great Aunts: Linda, Myrna, Gail, Evette, Julie, and a Host of Cousins and Nieces and More.
