Doris MayBetts Lynn, 85 of Paducah; died peacefully on Monday,July20, 2020 with family at her side. Doris was born April 25, 1935 in Potts Camp, Mississippito Ranel and Lucille Betts. She loved her children and family above all else. She always worked hard and heldmany jobsincluding restaurant waitress and cook, Sunday Schoolteacher, Avon Lady, Tupperware Lady, nursing at Western Baptist Hospital and cleaning houses. Shewas very proud of her accomplishments while raising six rambunctious kids. She loved sewing and couldmake patterns by sight, then sewthe dress or outfit. Shemade her nursing uniforms and herchildren’sclothing. She enjoyed quilting, gardening-both vegetables and flowers and taking care of her home. Doris was widowed, and shewas preceded in death by her daughter, AnneNimmo, by her parents, one sister, LucyHancock and two brothers,JimandMarvin Betts. She issurvived by herchildren,James Sledd (Carol), Kenneth Sledd (Sherry),Judy Sledd (Lyn Tucker), Shirley Logue and Shannah Poindexter(Chris). Shewas known to three generations of 50 grandchildrenwho called her granny or gran-gran. She leaves behind two very dearfriends and theirfamilies, MarthaPeck and LucyDunn, a special niece KatieGranthum. The familywould like to thankMercyHealth Lourdes Hospice fortheircare and support ofDoris and herfamily during her battlewith Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pmon Thursday,July23, 2020 atMilner &Orr FuneralHome and Cremation Services of Paducahwith Rev. ToddHawkins officiating. Aprivate family burialwill occur atMaplelawn ParkCemetery at a later date. Visitationwill be from11:00 amuntilthe service time of 1:00 pmon Thursday,July23, 2020 atthe funeral home.
