Edna Marie (Stewart) Pell died peacefully on July 16, 2015, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Paducah, Kentucky. She was 97 years of age. Born on September 9, 1917, in Paducah; she was the daughter of Bryan Sr. and Esther Beyer Stewart. She was married to Ernest Joseph Pell for 75 years, and is survived by her four children: Ernest Eugene (Susan) Pell, Carol Goodman (Paul) Taylor, Sandria Lynn Cox and Clark Edward (Debbie) Pell, in addition to ten grandchildren and twentey-one great grandchildren. Mrs. Pell was pre-deceased by her parents and three siblings: Anna Louise Stewart, Bryan Stewart, Jr. and Charles Eugene Stewart.
Mrs. Pell had a wonderful life, enjoying a large loving family, a remarkable marriage, countless friends, numerous careers and travel throughout the world. She lived at times in Bangkok, Saigon, Germany and in Paducah, Lexington and Jonathan Creek on Kentucky Lake. As a legal secretary, Mrs. Pell worked for several law firms in Paducah and for the Paducah Bank. She also served as the secretary if Vice President Albin Barkley when he was at his home in Paducah. An avid genealogist, Mrs. Pell researched and then published her finding on the PEll, Stewart and Beyer families. Being born at the end of World War I, she often marveled at all the things she had seen, experienced and the changes she had witnessed over a period of almost 100 years! Her other passion, quilting and crocheting, produced some fifty handmade quilts and afghans she gladly shared with family and friends.
She was steadfast in her faith in God, and was a lifelong member of St. Mathew Lutheran Church in Paducah. She will be buried at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah, with a graveside service to be announced at a later date.
