Emma Miller

June 18, 1925 — March 17, 2014

Emma Rebecca Gor Miller, 88, of Goreville Ill., went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 11:29 a.m. surrounded by her loving family, at Heartland Medical Center in Marion, Ill. Emma Rebecca was born June 18, 1925 in Paris, TN to Ewing Randolph Gore and Mattie Thomas Oakley Gore. She married Robert Chaffin Miller on April 16, 1944. together they shared 59 years of marriage until his passing on March 4, 2004. In her early years, during World War II, she worked at National Fireworks, in Viola, near Mayfield KY. Later she moved to Paducah and worked at Cruses Seafood Restaurant. In her later years she sold Avon and was an antique dealer. Emma loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed Gospel music and writing songs and poetry. She was a Christian, of the Protestant Faith, and dearly loved her Lord. She last attended Goreville United Methodist Church in Goreville, Ill. She was a sweet lady with a beautiful smile who loved everyone. She was called to support her family and friends with her prayers. She was a courageous lady, who lived her life as fully as possible. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Goins and husband Manul of Goreville, Ill.; her grandchildren, Gregory Manul Goins and wife Raetta of West Frankfort, Ill. and Eric Lane Goins and wife JoAnne of Goreville, Ill.; her great-grandchildren, Raeghan Taylor Goins and Macy Lane Goins; and several nieces and nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chaffin Miller; her parents, Ewing Randolph Gore and Mattie Thomas Oakley Gore; her daughter, Bobbie Jean Miller; her sisters, Elizabeth Mae Gore Roberts and Mary Novella Gore; her brothers, Thomas Grant Gore, Paul Dolph Gore, Oliver Lee Gore, James Issac Gore and Joseph Dolph Gore.

Funeral service are scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah KY. Rev. Ed Hoke will officiate. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
