Eugene Charlie George, 65, of LaVergne, Tenn., formerly of Paducah, died at 1:55 a.m. Monday in Nashville, Tenn.
He was employed for 25 years with the New York City Transit Authority as a train dispatcher supervisor until his retirement. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and obtained degrees in accounting at Queens College in New York. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. He was a member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda George; two sons, Charles George of Paducah and Robert George of LaVergne; a daughter, Rachel George of LaVergne; five sisters, Mattie C. Woods, Elnora Stevenson and Connie Moss, all of Paducah, Lena Stafford of Louisville, and Rose M. Nance of Queens, N.Y.; a brother, Harrison George of Paducah; two grandsons; one aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene George and Susan Rozelle Woods George; a daughter, Tanya George; and four brothers.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Harrison Street Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Heady officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. today at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home and at the church after 11 a.m. Saturday.
