Florence Brashear Morton, 85, of Paducah died at 7:16 p.m. Friday at her residence. A native of Dallas, Texas, she attended the schools of Dallas and rec4eived her Bachelor of Education from Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn. She later attened Murray State University and received her master's degree.
She was a secretary for Lincoln High School, Dean of Students at Paducah Tilghman High School and retired as principal of Tilghman.
She was a member of Burks Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority-Beta Omega Omega Chapter, first president of Paducah Chapter of Links, member of Las Omegas Club, Duchess of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Andrew W. Morton, one son, Clifford M.H. Morton II, and one daughter, Diane Lucia Morton Moorman.
Her parents were A.W. Brashear and Hortense Burdette Chatman.
Surviving are one grandson, Clifford M.H. Morton III of Lexington, KY, one graddaughter, Jessica D. Moorman of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and one cousin, Dr. James Sweatt of Dallas, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maplelawn Park Cemeter.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday at Mundy Funeral Home, Alpha Kappa Alpah Sorority Service will be at 6 p.m.
