George Brooks

February 2, 1922 — January 22, 2011

George E. Brooks, 88, formerly of Paducah, died Saturday morning at Friendship Manor in Pewee Valley, Ky.

He was a member of West End Baptist Church, a retired Ironworker and a member of Local No. 782. He served as a Corporal with Co. C, 44th Medium Tank Battalion operating in the Pacific theater with the U.S. Army during World War II.

Friends may visit with the family after 10 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Services will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011, at noon at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with military rites.

Survivors include one son, Gary Brooks and wife Andrea of Fisherville, Ky.; three daughters, MaryAnne Crawford and husband Tom of Prospect, Ky., Gayle Brooks of Islamorada, Fla., and Katherine Martin and husband Terry of Allen, Texas; and one cousin, Lois Klampsen of Calvert City, Ky. George also leaves behind eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are his wife, Evelyn Pinkerton Brooks; his parents, Luther Perry Brooks and Mary Paul Brooks; one sister, Geneva Fike; and three brothers, Henry, Luther and Roy Brooks.
