Harlan A. Kelly, Sr., age 89, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, at his residence in Paducah.
Harlan was a graduate of the former Lincoln High School and a member of New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a former member of Stone Square Lodge #5 and was previously employed at Illinois Central Railroad and retired from TVA as a car dump operator. Harlan was a veteran in the United States Army.
Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kelly, Sr. and Mary Early Kelly; one son, Harlan Kelly, Jr.; one daughter, Merlynn Kelly, four sisters, Anna Lee Laster, Clara Frezell, Etta Allen and Billie Jean Fuqua; and two brothers, Robert Kelly, Jr. and Leonard Kelly.
Harlan is survived by his spouse, Merlean Rouse Kelly and one son, Graylon Kelly, both of Paducah; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Terry of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX and Almeta Hunt of Paducah; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Rouse, Linda Rouse Hamilton, Rava Nell Rouse and Yvonne Rouse, all of Paducah, one brother-in-law, Terry (Kay) Rouse of Paducah and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 21, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Pettus Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Gwendolyn Duncan officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may also call on Friday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
All in attendance are required to wear a mask.
