On Friday, May 20, 2022, at approximately 5:44 p.m., Herman Owens was called home from the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center of Paducah, Kentucky of Paducah, Kentucky to be with his Heavenly Father. When he answered the call Herman was at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 5 days. He ws born in Montgomery, AL, on July 15, 1952. He has since been peceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lottie Owens, Sr. three brothers, Willie Owens, Jr., Carl Owens and Horace Owens; one sister, Bernice Bynum; and one brother-in-law, Arthur Dupree.
As a young child, Herman attended the New Hope Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. He later grew into adulthood and was formerly employed as a forklift operator for the Chem-Pac Company.
Herman met and later wed in Holy Matrimony his dream girl, Michelle Owens McGuire, one bright October day. These vows of love have lasted thus far for 22 years.
Herman, a “Loyal Football Fan” for both Alabama and the Pittsburgh Steelers, was a happy good-natured person who was always “THE LIFE OF THE PARTY”. He was really thrilled playing cards and doing doing card tricks. Herman loved his family dearly. He liked participating in recreational activities including bowling and spending time in the park. He was an excellent baskietball player in high school and was listed among the state’s top 10 players. He and his teammates brought home the “FIRST BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP” TO THEIR SCHOOL”, George Washington Carver High School there in Alabama.
Herman Owens’ life will be cherished and held dearly by His Wife, Michelle Owens of Paducah, KY; Three Sons, Quinten Owens and Darryl Grubbs II, both of Paducah, KY and Darval’e (Stelisha) Grubbs of Lansing, MI; One Daughter, Malaysia Grubbs of Paducah, KY; Five Grandsons, Montez Grubbs of Champaign, IL and Da’Vion Grubbs, Da’Kria Grubbs, Darval'e Grubbs Jr. and D’John Grubbs, all of Lansing, MI; Four Granddaughters, Sarai Alexander, Taliyah Alexander, Journey Burns, and Saniyah Owens, all of Paducah, KY; Two Brothers, Will (Cynthia) Owens and Charles (Loretta) Owens; One Sister, Mary Dupree, all of Montgomery, AL; Two Aunts, Zelma Herman of Montgomery, AL and Noverta Pullen of Paducah, KY and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
