Horace Rowlett Jr., 82, of Paducah died Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Lourdes hospital.
Mr. Rowlett was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked for Ray Black & Son Construction Company for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpenter work. Mr. Rowlett was a member of Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, where he served as a Trustee and Maintenance person.
Mr. Rowlett was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonzo Rowlett and Pearl Hester; one sister; and one brother.
Mr. Rowlett is survived by longtime companion Karen Sloan of Paducah; one son, Clarence Holt of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one sister, Roberta Thomas of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Robert Lee and wife Christine Rowlett of Cleveland; special cousins, Gladys Cousin of Paducah and Junior Cousin of Chicago; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, at Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, 1038 Burnett Street in Paducah with Pastor Michael Chase officiating. Interment will be at Maplelawn Park Cemetery in Paducah.
The family will receive visitors at the church from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
