James Dellon Cochran, 83, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009, at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Cochran was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II. He was decorated with several medals including the Philippine Liberation Medal with two stars, the American Area Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal with two stars signifying he served two tours of duty in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church for over 49 years, a Kentucky Colonel and he loved to play golf at Paxton Park Golf Course in Paducah.
James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Frances Hill Cochran; one daughter, Marcia C. Rust and husband Larry of Paducah; one granddaughter, Emily L. Summers and husband Ryan of Paducah; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Peyton Summers; and three nephews, Gary Don Mitchell of Paducah and Monte Hale Mitchell and Jerry Don Mitchell both of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Parvin Cochran and Vera Jones Cochran, and one sister, Eva Bell Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Paxton Park Golf Course, 841 Berger Road, Paducah, KY 42003.
There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet and park at the mausoleum in Maplelawn Cemetery.
