James Meeks

James E. "Pete" Meeks, 78, of Paducah died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital.
He was a member of Southland Baptist Temple, where he was a Deacon and had taught the Ambassador Class for 26 years. He was also director of the Nursing Home Ministry and was retired from Triangle Enterprises Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sue Duckett Bond Meeks; two sons, Rick Meeks and wife Bev of Paducah, and Jim Meeks and wife Natalie of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepsons, Rick D. Bond and wife Valerie of Paducah, and Terry W. Bond and wife Thea of South Fulton, Tenn.; one sister, Sarah Marshall and husband Wayne of Lone Oak; one brother, Jesse "J.B" Meeks and Charlene of Evansville, Ind.; five grandchildren, Natalie Ballert, Landen Meeks, Jillian Meeks, Peter Meeks and Lexi Meeks; six stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Virginia Dill Meeks; and three brothers, Newton Meeks Jr., Charles Meeks and Kenneth Bruce Meeks. His parents were Rev. Jesse Newton Meeks and Myra Marie Besley Meeks.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm. Friday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Harold Council and the Rev. Topper Council officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
