Jan A. McDonald, 76, of Paducah passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Providence Pointe in Paducah.
Jan loved being on the river. She worked as a cook for Ingram Barge Company on the Justin Rogers for many years. She later worked for the McCracken County Jail where she retired as a Sargent.
On February 16, 1974 she married Robert Peters, he preceded her in death. Later in life she married, Lindley McDonald.
After retiring she enjoyed being at home with her cats, Kit and Ziggy. She loved them so much. She enjoyed gardening and watching/feeding birds. Jan was a beautiful artist. She painted many pictures. Some were displayed at the Papa Gallery where she was a member. She also taught painting in her studio. She loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing her banjo and dulcimer in her spare time. Jan always loved to tell a good story about living on Owen’s Island where she grew up as a child.
Surviving is her sister, Jenny Liotta of Holcomb, Wisconsin; her niece, Kim (Melvin) Thornhill of Gillespie, IL; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Laura Medley; three brothers, William Medley, Richard Medley, and Charles Medley; and four sisters, Jeraldine Ross, Allene Kommer, Adelle Rhodes, Linda Medley, and Kay Hart.
Graveside services will be at 11:00am on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Rev. Jack Russell officiating. Burial will follow.
