Jean Elkins

January 29, 1934 — February 5, 2010

Jean Godman Elkins, 76, of Paducah died at 4:58 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2010, at Western Baptist Hospital.
She was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and a Registered Pharmacist. She began her Pharmacy career at Western Baptist Hospital and later became first Director of Pharmacy at Lourdes Hospital. She graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School in 1952 and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Pharmacy. She was Past President of the Paducah Women's Club, Past President of the Paducah Business and Professional Women, and Chairperson of Duchess of Paducah Investment Club.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Smith of Paducah; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Owens and husband Steve of Murray, and Millie Kadner and husband Rick of Murray; a stepgrandson, Michael Birdsong of Murray; two nieces, Sharon Howard of West Paducah and Pam Gray of Kevil; a nephew, Jon Smith of Paducah; five great-nephews; and her special companion, "Sassy."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rainey Miller Elkins. Her parents were Granville A. and Arva Dixon Godman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Stan Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
