Kenneth M. Katterjohn, 85, of Paducah passed away at 1:50 a.m. Thursday at his home.
Mr. Katterjohn earned his Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University, where he was active in the Glee Club and the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He moved back to Paducah in 1951 to join his father, Herman, at Katterjohn Drug Store, which he founded in 1916. Mr. Katterjohn was still at Katterjohn Drug Store with his son, Kyle. He was a member of the United Church of Paducah and a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran, serving in the Small Boat Crew. He was a past commander and charter member of the Kentucky Lake Power Squadron.
Mr. Katterjohn is survived by his wife, Wanda Edwards Katterjohn; two sons, Kenneth Alan Katterjohn and wife Dana of Franklin, Tenn., and Kyle Pitman Katterjohn of Paducah; one stepdaughter, Connie Barnard of Paducah; one brother, Herman Eugene Katterjohn Jr. of Paducah; and four grandchildren, Brittany Katterjohn Ross and husband Stanley of Clarksville, Tenn., Katie Elizabeth Katterjohn of Jackson, Miss., Martha Marie Katterjohn of Jackson, Miss., and Heather Forry of Versailles, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Deremiah Katterjohn; and his parents, Herman Eugene Katterjohn Sr. and Lucille Shelton Katterjohn.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Maplelawn Park Cemetery with Pastor Paul Donner officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Because of Mr. Katterjohn's desire for children to experience the performing arts, the Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Carson Center Endowment, 100 Kentucky Ave. Paducah, KY 42003-1500.
