Obituary

Luvirta Shaw, a very caring, noble and nurturing woman of great character, left this earthly presence and entered into eternal rest from her labors on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 5:15 a.m. She was born on October 26, 1930.

Luvirta was an active member of Ninth Street Church of Christ where she raised her six children in the church.  She served faithfully as part of the culinary staff, assisting in the After-School Tutorial Program, preparing communion and in the Ladies Bible Study.

Luvirta was a woman filled with compassion and a desire to help others whenever, wherever and however she could. Often referred to as “granny”, she was known for her quick wit, sense of humor and ability to give sound spiritual advice. Consequently, many people looked to her for wisdom, guidance and the love and attention she willingly gave that made others feel special. In addition to her kindness and her ever-present smile, she specialized in baking the best caramel cake in town.  Peaceful moments would often find Luvirta reading her bible or tending to her flower garden where she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds gather.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Isiah Shaw; her parents, Edd and Effie Robinson; one son, Jimi Wade Shaw, Jr., two sisters, Mary Helen Burgess and Louise Justin; four brothers, Edward Robinson, George Robinson, Milton Robinson, and Robert Robinson; and one sister-in-law, Bobbie Robinson.

Leaving behind to cherish her sweet memories are:
