Mary J. Abell, 88, of Paducah died Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 4:05 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital.
She worked at the General Insurance Agency, Selective Service during World War II as a clerk. She retired from Bell South Telephone Company after 48 years' employment.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are one child, Bobbie Kay Abell of Paducah, owner of Abell Rail Service and Excavating; one niece, Brenda Watson of Seattle, Wash.; and one nephew, Mike Rinehold of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Bobby A. Abell, and a sister, Bida Rinehold. Her parents were Coy and Lula Wedeking Jones.
Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. O.D. Joiner officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday. Memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
