Mary Grief

January 4, 1937 — February 2, 2017

Mary Jean Greer Grief, age 80, of West Paducah, KY, passed away at 4:37 pm Thursday, February 2,
2017 at Jackson Oaks.

Mrs. Grief was a 1954 graduate of Fordsville High School and a graduate of Murray State University.
She was a Home Economics teacher for 27 years, having taught at Livingston Central High School and
retiring from Ballard Memorial High School. She was given the title of Kentucky Colonel by Governor
Julian Carroll, and was a member of McCracken County Homemakers, Zonta International Professional
Organization, The Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Society and Alpha Sigma Alpha
Sorority. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Mary Jean is survived by her daughter, Laura King and husband Craig; her grandson, Michael King;
several cousins; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog Cyndi Lou.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Grief Jr.; and her brother, Marvin Greer Jr. Her
parents were Marvin S. Greer and Letha Harper Greer.

Funeral services for Mary Jean will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral
Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with Rev. Jewell Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at
Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Funeral Home.
