Services for Mary Elizabeth Venarable Jackson Hobbs, 87, of Paducah will be at noon Wednesday at Mundy Funeral Home with the Rev. Karlyn L. Young officiating. Burial will be at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
She died at 1 p.m. July 1 at her home.
Mrs. Hobbs worked as a housekeeper in private homes. She was a member of Harrison Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are seven stepdaughters, Lucy Hobbs Perry and Anna G. Benberry Brown, both of Nashville, Tenn., Joannah R. Hobbs Yates, Mary Benberry Lundford, Theodra Benberry, the Rev. Karlyn L. Young, all of Paducah, and Sandra C. Benberry Walker of Louisville; two stepsons, Issac LaGeorge Hobbs of Lexington and Joseph D. Benberry of Paducah; one brother, the Rev. Samuel E. Venarable of Paducah; one sister, Esther Scaggs of Los Angeles; six nieces; and six nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel "Nacy" Hobbs; one stepson; one stepdaughter; and 17 brothers and sisters. Her parents were William Henry Venarable and Lucinda Venarable.
Friends may call from noon to 4:30 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
