Funeral services for Marye Estalea Lyles Whalen, age 91, of Paducah will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Terry Sills officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Whalen died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Western Baptist Hospital.
Born in Carlisle County, Mrs. Whalen was a graduate of Draughon's Business College. She retired as office manager for Moore Advertizing. Mrs. Whalen was a life-long member of the West End Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the sanctuary choir. She also co-founded the local Parkinson's support group.
Mrs. Whalen is survived by a son, Gary Lyles and wife Rita of Paducah; a stepson, Lloyd J. Whalen and wife Patricia of Munford, Tenn.; one sister, Billie C. Moore of Venice, Florida; and one brother, Dr. Robert E. Clark of Mayfield. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Tracy Lyles, Chris M. (Tara) Lyles, Melissa (Cody) Pritchard, and Jason L. (Tina) Whalen, and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Whalen was preceded in death by her first husband, Wallace S. Lyles; her second husband, William P. Whalen, and one great-grandchild. Her parents were Carlos and Helen Bridges Clark.
