Nolan C. Harton, 82, of Paducah, KY passed away at 9:38 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Lourdes hospital.
He was the retired Owner and Operator of Lumberteria Lumber Company. Nolan loved hunting, fishing, antique cars, Harleys, boating, flying, renovation, and was always planning his next projects. There was little that he couldn't fix, build or improve. He was tenacious yet patient. Friends and family agree that he loved to tell stories and to share his hobbies with friends and family.
He was a lifelong learner, participating in Toastmasters and Dale Carnegie courses, and loved to explain to others how things work. He was a very generous person.
Nolan's strong Christian faith was of paramount importance to him and he was a lifelong devoted member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Member and Past President of the Lone Oak Lions Club. Member of the National Rifle Association. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Jane Osborne Harton; daughter, Lisa Ann (Bob) Harton Cattanach of Prairieville, KS; son, Mike (Raylene) Harton of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Shannon Michael Harton, Corey Rhea Harton, Brian Nolan Harton, Lauren Alissa Cattanach, Lindsey Anne Cattanach; great-grandchildren, Allie Jane, Taryan Elizabeth, Maggie Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nolan C. Harton, Sr. and Pearl McClure Harton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Lone Oak First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Summerlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
