HARRISBURG, Ill. - A memorial service for the Rev. Nolan W. Smith, 70, of Harrisburg, formerly of McCracken County, Ky., will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Dorrisville Baptist Church, where he was a member. Dr. Russ Stephens will officiate.
Mr. Smith died at 10:05 p.m. Friday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.
He retired as pastor of Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort after 40 years of full-time ministry in Kentucky, Tennessee and Illinois. Mr. Smith was former president of the Baptist Hour Association and served on the Illinois Baptist State Association Board of Directors for eight years.
Surviving are his wife, Janice Smith; one daughter, Mona Rae McDonald of Raleigh; one son, Keith W. Smith of Farmington, Mo.; one brother, Virgil Smith of Paducah; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. His parents were Richard F. and Daisy Opal Edwards Smith.
