Services for Norman Ray, 61, of West Paducah will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenneth Weber and Skip Parson officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ray passed away Friday, May 30, 2008, at his home.
He was a 1964 graduate of Heath High School and worked for Marine Ways, ICG Shops, and retired as a home contractor. He was a former member of Eureka Baptist Church and an active member of Olivet Baptist Church where he served on the Kitchen Committee. He was a member of Kaintuck Muzzleloaders, River City CB Club and the Cardinal Lanes Friday Night Bowling Leagues. He was an avid fisher, hunter, golfer, craftsman and loved Southern Gospel music.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rodena Railing Ray; two daughters, Kelly Ray and husband Mike Yancey of Paducah and Shelly Baker and husband Nathan of Sadieville; one son, Kevin Ray and wife Lisa of Paducah; two brothers, Terry Ray and wife Jeannean of Humble, Texas and Dewayne Ray and wife Janet of Paducah; six sisters, Loyce English and husband Mark of Ponca City, Okla. and Shirley Wooley and husband John, Janice Holder and husband Paul, Mary Kelly and husband Andy, Emma Todd and husband Jerry and Cathey Sharpe and husband Dennis, all of Paducah; six grandchildren, Eli Baker, Jesse Baker, Dylan Driskill, Kelsie Ray, Amelia Ray and Josey Ray; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Ray. His parents were Lloyd and Nellie Ray.
Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Olivet Baptist Church, 5186 Hinkleville Rd., Paducah, KY 42003 to support local missions to further God's Kingdom.
