Ray Silvera Cobb, age 67, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Paducah, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020, at UF Health North in Jacksonville.
Ray was of the Christian faith, was a 1971 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School, and attended both the Paducah Community College and Murray State University. For several years, Ray worked for Union Carbide/Martin Marietta Aggregates in Paducah, KY then transferred to their Jacksonville, FL location in 1982. Ray was a retiree as a Senior Reliability Specialist/Mechanical Planner from the Saint Johns River Power Park in Jacksonville.
Ray was a quiet, fun-loving person with an infectious smile and a great sense of humor. He loved his family and friends, and enjoyed travel and sports, particularly football and softball which he played in his youth. Ray was also an avid music enthusiast, and as a traveling Disc Jockey, he formed the group "Nite Life" to groove and entertain audiences in tri-State area (Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana) as well as Tennessee. A revered "grill-master", Ray especially loved to cook, a celebrated passion which he continued until the very end. However, the greatest joys of his life were his loving wife and daughter.
Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Donna Massie Cobb and one daughter, Kayla Renee Cobb both of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Kaye Cobb Moore of Paducah; two brothers, Terry Sutton of Louisville and Lamel Luter of Long Beach, CA; niece; Gianina Holland of Los Angeles, CA; nephew;, Raymond (Stacey) Cobb; sisters-in-love; Robbin Massie of Lebanon, IL, Allyson (Raymond) Wynn of Bur Ridge, IL; Thelma Jackson of Bowling Green, KY; brother-in-law; Myron (Patricia) Massie; several loving nieces, nephews, cousins; special life-long friends; Jeff Davis of Paducah, KY; Charles Diggs, Hal Hill, Kenneth Scruggs all of Louisville, KY: Winfred Jones of Memphis, TN; Michael Moss of Clarksville, TN; and William Travis of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of other loving relatives, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver ”Sam” and Callie Cobb.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, 12:00 Noon, at Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home, with Rev. Michael Moss officiating. Entombment will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may also call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
