Ray Stone

September 14, 1937 — June 15, 2011

Ray Stone, 73, of Paducah died at 8:43 p.m. Wednesday at his home.

Mr. Stone was a member of New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and finance chairman.

Mr. Stone was a graduate of Lincoln Ridge Institute in Lincoln Ridge and retired from the maintenance department at Air Products & Chemicals in Calvert City.

Mr. Stone is survived by three sons, the Rev. Phillip Stone of Mounds, Ill., Tony Stone of Cairo, Ill., and Gary Stone of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Melony Smith of Paducah; a twin sister, Faye Weatherspoon of Paducah; three brothers, George Thomas Stone of Cleveland, and the Rev. Franklin Stone and Donnie Curtis Stone, both of Barlow; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one aunt, and one uncle.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. His parents were George Oliver Stone and Alma Samuels Stone.

Services will be at noon Saturday at New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. W.G. Harvey Sr. and Garland W. White officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
