FULTON, Ky. - Robert Earl Johnson, 72, of Fulton, formerly of Paducah, died at 3:40 a.m. Friday at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.
He graduated from South Fulton High School as valedictorian and from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Arm.
He was pastor of the Church of Christ Holiness and chaplain at Parkway Regional Hospital. He was a member of the Prince Hall Masons, the American Legion of Fulton and the Voices of Zion.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Johnson; one son, Robert Earl Johnson Jr. of Paducah; four brothers, Jimmy Johnson of Hickman, Frank Johnson of Carbondale, Ill., Bobby Johnson of New Jersey, and Willie Johnson of Louisville; one stepdaughter, Ailene Griffin of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents were Earl Samuel Johnson and Verna Mae Johnson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at New Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church in Paducah. The Revs. James Bolen and W.G. Harvey Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Wednesday at the church.
