Born May 9, 1921, in Pope County, IL. Sampson E. Reynolds went home to be with the Lord, July 6, 2008, 11:10 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital. He was 87 years old.
Sampson was the owner of Paducah Coal Co. and several restaurants, as well as a chartered member of Southland Baptist Temple.
He is survived by his four children, Bill (Karin) Reynolds of Paducah, KY, Betty (Charles) Hopper of Paducah, KY, Brenda Vance of Medford, OR, and Judith (Mickey) Hall of Cocoa Beach, FL; his four grandchildren, Natalie Neeble, Tammy Quertermous, Chandra Ladd, and Derek Jay Hopper; his four great-grandchildren, Josh Neeble, Justin Quertermous, Adeline Hopper, and Garrett Moberly; his five great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Murline Carroll of Nashville, Tenn. He was predeceased by his wife, Kathryn Reynolds White; his father, Ervin Reynolds; his mother, Mollie Murray Reynolds; four brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, and after 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Roth Funeral Chapel in Paducah.
Services will take place will be on 12 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Roth Funeral Chapel in Paducah with interment to follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Rev. Harold Council and Rev. Louis Brinker will officiate the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. 50 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
