Sherley Vance

Sherley Vance, age 95, of West Paducah, KY, passed away at 6:40 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2016
at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
He retired from the maintenance department at Union Carbide after 30 years. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He was the deacon emeritus at Olivet Baptist
Church, where he also served as the church treasurer and chairman of the deacons. He was also
an avid farmer.
He is survived by two daughters, Kaye Dowdy and husband Larry of Kevil, KY, Mary Sue Pearson
and husband Bruce of Dayton, OH; two sons, Tom Vance and wife Anita of West Paducah, KY,
Gerry Vance and wife Debbie of West Paducah; one sister, Kathleen Chipps of Paducah, KY; eight
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Josa "Kokie" Lee Elrod Vance; parents, Charles William
Vance Sr. and Mayme Miles Vance; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Vance, JoAnn Cockrell; and one
brother, Charles William Vance, Jr.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Lone Oak Chapel of
Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Tucker and Rev. Bobby Strong officiating. Burial
will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the service time of 2:00 pm at the Lone Oak Chapel of
Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
