Temperance Blakely

Temperance "Tempie" Elizabeth Donovan Blakely, 88, of Paducah died Sunday, August 8, 2010, at 6 p.m. at her residence.

Mrs. Blakely was a retired secretary for the Paducah City School System, a Sunday school teacher and lifelong member of St. Luke Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a current member of Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blakely was also honored as a Duchess of Paducah, a lifetime member of the P.T.A., a Kentucky Colonel, and a past president of the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are three children, Jerry Blakely and wife Margrit of Morgantown, W.Va., Michael Blakely and wife Wendy of Paducah, and Andrea Maye Lester and husband Kerry of Paducah; one daughter-in-law, Delores Blakely Clemmons of Cadiz; four grandchildren, Erica Bowman, Carah Bradley, Norman Lindsey Blakely II and Elizabeth Ann Lester; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Norman L. Blakely; a son, Steve Blakely; and one granddaughter, Dawn Blakely.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Aldersgate United Methodist Church at Fourth and Norton Streets in Paducah. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Roth Funeral Chapel and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

The family requests contributions in lieu of flowers be made to Paducah Cooperative Ministry, 402 Legion Drive, Paducah KY 42003.
