Velma Rudolph Truitt, 98, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Truitt was a longtime member of Woodlawn Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Women's CPW, a Western Baptist Auxiliary Volunteer for 25 years, a member of Cumberland Pioneers and retired from Paducah City Schools, having worked in the Brazelton School Cafeteria. She possessed a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing that humor in many different programs.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Jernigan and husband Dorman of Paducah; one son, Troy Truitt of Calvert City; one sister, Etta Smith of Council Bluff, Iowa; two brothers, Andy Rudolph and Rev. Allie D. Rudolph, both of Reidland; four grandchildren, Vanda Campbell and husband Darry, Vona Adams and husband Michael, Todd Truitt and wife Pam, and Julie Kelley and husband Marshall; six great-grandchildren, Holly Hutchison, Megan Campbell, Heather Hutchison, Tyler Truitt, Caroline Kelley and Max Truitt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Stewart O. Truitt; her parents, Edd Rudolph and Myrtie Bagwell Rudolph; and five brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Roger Reid and the Revs. Kevin Medlin and Gary Elrod officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2009, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
