Vera Gates

Vera M. Gates, 77, of Paducah passed away at 9:45 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Western Baptist Hospital.

Vera was a sales associate for Michelson Jewelers for 38 years. She was a charter member of Southland Baptist Temple and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

Vera is survived by three sons, Steven Gates of Paducah, Michael Gates and wife, Debra of Cypress, Ill. and David Gates of Paducah; son-in-law, Kent King of Paducah; grandchildren, Andrew Page Gates, Haley M. King, Tayler King, Hope S. Gates and Mandy Moore; great-grandchildren, Sophia Page Merchant, Avery Page Gates, Hope Hutchison, Lilly Moore and Trace Moore.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby J. Gates and her daughter, Lisa Gayle Gates King. Her parents were William Everett Medley and Montalee Hearell Medley.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Harold Council and Rev. Jimmy Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
