Verda “I make you think” Kay Myers (Granny Kay) was born September 24, 1942 to Minnie Lee and Troy Mitchell Heflin (both deceased) in Paducah, Kentucky.
She married Eddie Lewis Myers (deceased) and they had two sons, Jeffery Mitchell Myers (Tamra) and Jerry Lewis Myers.
Granny Kay had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Andrew Jeffery Myers (JJ), Katherine Grace Wright (Brad), Destiny Hope Myers (Carl), Joseph Andrew Myers, Christopher Gray, Dustin (Taylor) Gray, Owen Myers, Beckett Myers, Mimi Gray, Cali Taylor, Isaiah Taylor.
Not only was she a beloved mother and grandmother but one of seven sisters, Anna Sue Taylor, Nellie Jean Henderson (deceased), Erma Lee McLeod, Janie Katherine Heflin (deceased), Anita Joyce Nichols and Sharon Rose Woodford. Plus, several nieces and nephews.
She worked for many faithful years at Owen’s Cleaners and only retired when her health would not let her continue. Even so, she continued working part-time until she could do so no more.
Granny Kay lived a long full life. She was truly one of a kind and many will miss her. She was 76 when she passed away at 4:38 pm on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Chuck Jordan officiating. Entombment will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Paducah.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the funeral home.
