Verna Flanary

Verna Kathern Flanary, 90, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away at 8:44 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her home.

Verna was born in Paducah on October 16, 1929 to Herbert and Bertha Dailey. She was a 1948 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School. She was a former member of St. Mark Methodist Church, now Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church, the Paducah Women’s Club and a lifelong member of Farley Elementary School P.T.A. She was very active in the P.T.A. and as a band booster volunteer. Verna was a very outgoing lady who loved to talk and never met a stranger. She was a strong willed, hard working and independent woman who spoke her mind and stood up for what she believed in but gave her heart to children and animals.

Mrs. Flanary is survived by her daughters, Macie Flanary Tucker (David), of Mayfield, Kentucky, Kathy Flanary Osborne (Glenn) and LaNita Flanary, all of Paducah; her sons, James Douglas Flanary II (Sharon), of Symsonia, Kentucky and Charles Thomas Flanary (Jenny), of Benton, Kentucky; her grandchildren, James Michael Tucker, John David Tucker (Carley), Elizabeth Ann Tucker Gordon (Josh), Benjamin Douglas Osborne (Jennifer), Ashley Lynn Flanary Jessup (Cory), James Douglas Flanary, Jr. (Becky), Robert Andrew Tucker, Christian Thomas Flanary, Patrick Thomas Flanary (Lydia), Brittany Kathern Osborne; her great grandchildren, Madison Grace Tucker, Lena Marie Osborne, Easton James Tucker, Knox Wayne Jessup, August James Flanary.

Mrs. Flanary was preceded in death by her husband of sixty eight years, James Douglas Flanary, Sr.; her parents, Herbert Thomas Dailey and Bertha Green Dailey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 25, 2019 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Steve Cavitt officiating. Burial will follow at Mapleawn Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 24, 2019 at the funeral home.
