Wenna Mae Atherton Day, 77, of Paducah, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Countryside Center in
Bardwell.
Wenna was born in Carlisle County, KY on September 23, 1939 to Herschel and Ruby Puckett Atherton.
For twenty-seven years until her retirement, she was the assistant director of transportation for the
McCracken County School System. Wenna was an active member of Bellview Baptist Church and Alben
Barkley Democratic Women's Club. She was honored to receive the Kentucky Colonel recognition.
Wenna was known as "Nanny" by her beloved family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by children, Katheryn (Kelly) Keenan of Bowling Green, KY and Kevin Lee (Tyna) Day
of Cunningham, KY; grandchildren, Emily Keenan, Kristopher Keenan, Justin (Heather) Haynes, Jerrica
(Michael) Richardson and Josh (Charlse) Haynes; eight great-grandchildren; and niece, Penny (Doug)
Cooper.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John Day, Jr.; son, Keith Dewayne Day; sister, Katheryn
Atherton Harper; and brother, Keith Daniel Atherton.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Mike
Nolan officiating. Burial will follow at Maplelawn Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
