WICKLIFFE - Bro. William Carroll "Bill" Bowles, 87, of Wickliffe passed away at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah.
Bro. Bowles was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was ordained into ministry June 12, 1955, and served as pastor of three churches in Carlisle County from 1955 until 1999, including Kirbyton Baptist Church, Beech Grove Baptist Church and Emmaus Baptist Church.
He was a retired farmer and was retired from the Carpenters Local Union #357.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lunette Biggs Bowles; two sons, William Rhea Bowles and wife, Carol, of Wickliffe and Dan Bowles and wife, Beth of Cunningham; four grandchildren, Shana Bowles of Gage, Chad Bowles and wife, Rene of Hinkleville, Kristena Black and husband, Lance of Bardwell, and Korie Bowles and wife, Rachel of Cunningham; seven great-grandchildren, Kole Williams, Dustin Bowles, Lydia Bowles, Landon Black, Lincoln Black, Kannon Bowles and Kaden Bowles; two sisters, Eva Jean Gibson of Kevil and Maxine Sullivan of Kevil.
He was the son of Marion Shelby Bowles and Lovie Haynes Bowles; and was preceded in death by four brothers, Baby Bowles, T.J. Bowles Sr., LeRoy Bowles and Shelby Bowles; one sister, Almarine Tilford.
Funeral services for Bro. William Bowles will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Bobby Brown officiating, assisted by Bro. Rhea Bowles and Dan Bowles. Burial will follow in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, at the funeral home.
